Schedule:

This is a 9-month position. Follows the academic calendar with summer and breaks off (unpaid). This position will start in August 2026.

Hours of work:

Full Day Mon-Thursday 8-4pm Fridays will be for classroom planning, trainings, and home visit days. A calendar is provided with some Fridays being non workdays.

Employee Benefits and Wage: $25.86 starting- 5% increase after 90 days with performance review.

Purpose of Position:

  • The Family Support Coordinator focuses on partnering with caregivers to identify strengths, set goals, and connect with services to meet their needs. They support the family to maximize potential with the children’s learning, health, and overall well-being.
  • >Establish family partnerships and support parents in achieving goals related to education, employment, housing, finances, parenting, and health.
  • >Assist families in establishing a primary health care provider
  • >Facilitates scheduling dental exams, well child exams, & immunizations; coordinates follow-ups/referrals, and assists with transportation as needed
  • >Conducts hearing & vision screenings and makes referrals as needed
  • >Provides health/nutrition education in the classrooms and for parents
  • >Connect families with community resources and provide referrals for services to help meet the family's needs. Maintain knowledge of available community resources.
  • >Strengthen parent engagement by encouraging participation in classroom volunteer activities or leadership opportunities within the program.
  • >Collaborate with teachers and other staff to address children's developmental, educational, and social-emotional needs.
  • >Help with recruitment efforts by attending community events on behalf of Head Start and completing applications to add families to the program's waitlist.
  • >Monitors attendance of each child on caseload and provides follow up on issues as needed. Monitors health requirements to ensure implementation of Head Start Performance Standards.

Education/Training Required:

  • BA degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, counseling or a related field.

  • CPR and First Aid certified within the first 3 months of employment (or audit the course if physically necessary).

  • Complete Mandated Reporter Interactive Training within 1 month of employment.

Education/Training Preferred:

  • Additional degree in Health services

  • ND LPN or RN License

  • Licensed Social Worker in the state of ND

Minimum Experience and Skills Required:

  • 1 year of experience in a human services or health services field services field.

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and protocol.

  • Ability to communicate in a professional and appropriate manner with children, parents, and staff.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, including clients and co-workers, and to maintain effective working relationships with SENDCAA clients and staff.

  • Ability to perform work independently under the general direction of supervisor.

  • Supports team efforts, cooperates with others, and actively learns from other team members.

  • Ability to follow protocols, (e.g., chain of command, confidentiality) when communicating with others in the program, families, governing body, policy group, committees, and those in other community programs.

  • Ability to carry out the duties of this position while helping to fulfill SENDCAA’s mission while

adhering to policies, procedures and regulations.

Experience and Skills Preferred:

Fluency in the language spoken by the majority of families the program serves.

Working Conditions and Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the individual generally has good working conditions. The employee is often exposed to moderate noise from children.

Physical Requirements/Activities: While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, balance, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, feel and use equipment/materials, push, pull, lift, twist, grip, and communicate (talk and hear). Intermittently, the employee is required to climb, jump and crawl.

Occasionally, the employee is required to exert up to 25 pounds of force and/or less than 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including a child. Infrequently, the employee is required to run, exert up to 60 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including a child. Specific vision ability required is close vision of 20 inches or less and distance vision of 20 feet or less.
